Full Time, Fixed Term 

The Oxford Brookes Centre for Nutrition and Health (OxBCNH), within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, is looking for an enthusiastic Postgraduate Research Assistant. The successful candidate will join our team and will be involved in the day-to-day running of the nutrition contractual research studies at OxBCNH. This will involve interacting with participants, conducting lab-based and human trials and preparing reports for clients. We are looking for someone who will become a part of our small, friendly team who will be happy sharing team responsibilities, as well as bringing his/her unique knowledge and experience.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • running individual studies on a day-to-day basis to include all related organisational and development aspects reporting on a regular basis to the OxBCNH Management Team
  • assisting in the choice of data collection methodology. Contributing to data input and data analysis
  • assisting in the development and completion of final reports and presentations for diverse audiences
  • preparing initial drafts of papers for publication and presentation
  • preparing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required
  • assisting in the day-to-day running and maintenance of the Nutrition Research laboratory

We are looking for a passionate graduate who is keen to be involved in research, use lab based skills and interact with the public. Training will be given as required.

The minimum requirements for this post are:

  • degree in Nutrition, Food Science or a related subject
  • experience of communicating with the public or in a customer facing role
  • experience of data collection and analysis
  • good knowledge of MS Office and SPSS
  • ability to work independently and to take initiative when required
  • good organisational and time management skills
  • good accuracy and attention to detail
