This appointment represents an exciting new development by the University to expand and strengthen animal production science teaching and research. In addition to delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching sessions, the postholder will also be expected to generate research funding, develop short course opportunities on behalf of the University or deliver consultancy depending upon personal interests and experience.
The appointment is a lecturing position that demands a responsive and committed approach. Suitable candidates will have a good first degree and a higher degree in farm animal production science or related area. Candidates should have a strong interest in animal production including specialist areas of beef and sheep production that could be developed into a successful research programme. The position will be supported and mentored by the ABP Professor in Sustainable Beef Production, Judith Capper, with a view to growing the successful candidates research portfolio and facilitating career development. Candidates should have also an awareness of UK and global farming and the direction of change within the agriculture industry particularly with regard to sustainability, agri-environment, net zero, soil health etc. Applications from individuals with research experience and a developing portfolio of publications would be particularly welcomed.
