Full Job Description:
The Customer Solutions Engineering team provides operational support for all of Disney DMED’s family of consumer-facing digital products, triaging hundreds of product issues in any given month, while at the same time providing feature development support in parallel with the other DTCI Engineering teams. In addition to development support, the Customer Solutions team acts as the primary entry point for entry-level Software Engineers, providing a vehicle by which engineers joining the company have an opportunity to become acclimated with the DMED / ESPN tech stack, gain exposure to all of our consumer-facing digital products, and truly discover passion-points within the software engineering realm.
- The goal is to groom well-versed Software Engineers towards an eventual transition into a focused role within other teams in the DTCI Org. Since the creation of our team and the introduction of our process, we have successfully transitioned 9 engineers into such focused development roles.
- This request is for a new Software Engineer 1 role focused on Platform Engineering Support. This role will focus on supporting back-end platforms that power DMED’s family of Consumer Products.
Basic Qualifications :
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
- Proficient in Java
- Sound programming fundamentals including data structures and algorithms, and experience with object-oriented software development, with an understanding of software design patterns
- Experience with all aspects of the software development Lifecycle, including best practices like unit testing, code reviews, and documentation
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Capable of working autonomously
- Passion for learning with new technology and tools
- Rigorous attention to details and a focus on quality of deliverables
- Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications :
- Open sources frameworks and tools such as Spring, TestNg, Junit, Mockito, GitHub/GitLab
- Open source servlet containers such as Tomcat, Undertow, Nginex
- Lightweight containers like Docker
- Cloud-based technologies (AWS, EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB)
- Distributed Systems development and concepts such as RESTful APIs
- Experience with NoSQL databases
